I could've sworn there was a Toblerone around here somewhere.

Hands up anyone who still has any Christmas or Hanukkah chocolate left.

Who are you, and how do you do it?

Mr. S. is one of you. He has a nibble of chocolate every so often, and it lasts for weeks. The man can sit at his desk and concentrate on his work with an open bag of Hershey's Kisses not three feet away. He has an "off" switch.

My Christmas chocolate was gone well before the New Year. I've been very good about not pilfering anyone else's though. And come to think of it, since I did some of the chocolate shopping, maybe he had more to start with.

Right. That must be it.

  1. There's still one little bag of Hanukkah chocolate left. Since I'm diabetic, I eat few sweets (well, few real ones--I have a Weight Watchers chocolate mousse pop after dinner every night). Somehow my wife hasn't eaten it.

Since I was diagnosed I'm really amazed how little craving I have for sweets. Bread and other bad carbs, that's a different matter. I have much more trouble staying away from them.

  2. I was restricted from chocolate when I was a kid - only holidays and what not. So I binged for awhile when I became an adult and did my own grocery shopping.

But now I am a nibbler like Mr. S. I have a mostly full bag of Hershey's peanut butter kisses, a package of Lindt truffles (the flat ones...they are amazing), regular Hershey kisses, and like 2 or 3 bags of M&Ms in my fridge that I rarely touch.

Turns out that the only chocolate item that I can't resist no matter how hard I try is a Kit Kat bar. Those never last longer than a few hours after I buy them.

I'm more with Caprice, though I'm not diabetic. I love, love, love me some carbs. A loaded baked or mashed potato, macaroni and cheese......those are the things I can't stay away from.

  3. I have chocolate in the house that I bought to put in stockings and forgot about. I have a nibble now and then and I am a major chocolate freak. I seem to not need to have it constantly though. I think it's because I buy really expensive chocolate and wolfing all down in one go seems too extravagant. I blame it on my Puritan ancestors.

Although, that said, That Canadian Boy I Married brought home some dark Kit Kats after a trip back home and those were gone mighty quickly. Those things are my weakness. It's a good thing they don't sell them here anymore because I'd weigh even more than I do now.
