I've got a bad feeling about this.

I'm concerned that the process of choosing a Democratic nominee for President is going to get really, really ugly.

It seems the decision will come down to "superdelegates" (who btw should be required to wear capes and tights at the convention, or lose their Super Status) or -- God help us -- courts. That would feel more than a little slimy, and possibly cost the Democrats the election in November.

  1. What does the picture have to do with anything?

  2. my dear mrs teasdale,

i regret to inform you that the author of this blog is a bit of a star wars fanatic. having read this blog for some time, I suspect the obscure image about which you so naturally inquire is from the original star wars film, produced in the late 1970s. The director went on to make two more, and then, just when you thought it was safe to return to the movies - reissued them with extra scenes. Later, the director came back and made three more (when I believe his rent was due). This is when you may or may not have heard the phrase "sequels to the prequels" and given up on the english language altogether. Please note that certain people in our culture (if you can call it that) who appear to be adults - despite the fact that they often dress up as characters from the movie - refer to the original as number four of six, if that makes any sense. Others refer to it as "A New Hope,” but I have since lost all mine. I digress. Regardless, I believe the image shown is a scene in which one of the characters says, “I've got a bad feeling about this” in the motion picture version. Undoubtedly it was one of many scenes that could easily have been deleted with no loss nor worry.

fear not, mrs. teasdale, you have not missed anything. and with that, i can only offer my apologies.

  3. Excellent.

For the record: it has been years since I dressed up as one of the characters.

  4. I'm concerned about it too. I worry that they'll tear each other down so much that they won't have any fight left after the convention. And they just give the Reprobates, um, I mean Republicans, more ammunition to use as we approach November.

That's what my friend super-conservative semi-celibate man is hoping for with Barack v Hillary - total Democratic Party meltdown. He's giggling his butt off watching them go at it.

Can't we all just get along?

  5. Have faith. You gotta have faith.

My heart was so broken the last two elections, that it's hard to be optimistic again, but I'm trying.

(And btw, I'd LOVE to possibly mention your post about the grade school secretary in my Kindergarten book. Let me know if that's OK--I probably won't get to it for a while & I'll show it to you before it goes anywhere. But it was just so funny & true.)

  6. I always think of Super Grover when I think of the Super Delegates. I think they should be required to say "Suuu-uuuper Delegates" and wear the Super Grover outfit to the convention. I'd pay good money to see that.

I agree with you on the nasty. And anonymous is a riot.

  7. bunny - yep, I bet SCM and others are enjoying the show. I hope it's a short one.

WA - emailed you. I'm delighted you liked the post.

MB - If the Super Delegates wore Super Grover outfits (complete with helmet), they could put the convention on pay-per-view and I'd get cable just to see it.
